Shipping policy

Where we deliver

Thrift Reads currently delivers within New Zealand and to Australia. We do not currently ship to other countries.

New Zealand shipping rates

  • Free metro shipping: Orders of $40 or more to eligible non-rural New Zealand metro addresses, including Christchurch.
  • Christchurch under $40: $5 for addresses with a postcode beginning with 8.
  • Metro New Zealand under $40: $9.
  • Rural New Zealand: $14.

Rural delivery does not qualify for the free metro shipping offer. Customers with a rural address must choose the Rural NZ delivery option at checkout. If an incorrect non-rural rate is selected, we may contact you for the difference before dispatching the order.

Australia shipping

Tracked delivery to Australia is a flat rate of $37 NZD.

Local pickup

Local pickup is available from Thrift Reads, 9 Penbury St, Waltham, Christchurch 8023. Pickup orders are usually ready within 24 hours. Please wait for our ready-for-pickup email before visiting and bring your order confirmation. Check our current store hours before collecting.

Dispatch, tracking and delivery times

We will email tracking details after an order has been dispatched. Standard New Zealand delivery usually takes 3–5 working days after dispatch, while rural delivery can take longer. Australian delivery times vary by destination. Delivery estimates are guides and can be affected by carrier delays, severe weather, public holidays and other events outside our control.

Delivery addresses

Please check that your delivery address is complete and correct before placing your order. Contact us as soon as possible if an address needs to be changed. We cannot guarantee that an address can be changed after an order has been dispatched.

Delayed, missing or damaged deliveries

If tracking has not updated for an unusual period, or your parcel arrives damaged, email support@thriftreads.co.nz with your order number and any relevant photos. We will work with you and the carrier to investigate.
