About this book

Description

Three siblings — Nina, Susan, and Richard — whose relationships are fraught with distrust, jealousy and long-held resentments. Richard is “the baby of the family,” long spoiled and still convinced he’s his mother’s favourite. Susan believes she’s always been neglected, and feels bitter and resentful — convinced she deserved more and envies Nina, who seems to “have it all.”Meanwhile, Nina has settled into her roles as dutiful daughter, sister, and married woman. She’s married to Alex, a workaholic, and years into their marriage she starts longing for a child. But Alex always seems to put off the timing — there’s always another property, another business deal. There’s suspicion that Alex’s frequent late hours at the office may not be innocent — maybe there’s “something else” driving him, something he “cannot refuse.” Meanwhile, Nina’s role as “peacemaker” — the one who keeps her family together — begins to feel more and more like a burden. She has built a seemingly perfect life, but beneath the surface tensions and unspoken resentments simmer.
