About this book

Description

It was the love of adventure, the challenge of it, that made John Breen take on the difficult jobs - those no one else wanted. And what adventure it turned out to be. This memoir chronicles the adventurous history of Breen Construction, a Central Otago company known for taking on some of New Zealand’s most remote, difficult, and dangerous construction projects. Through stories of helicopter-assisted radio mast installations, alpine ski-lift construction, dam building, rail trail development, and Fiordland salvage operations, John Breen recounts decades of ingenuity, resilience, and problem-solving in extreme environments. The book combines business history, engineering challenges, and rugged outdoor adventure, offering a vivid portrait of New Zealand’s high-country construction culture and the people drawn to demanding work “off the map.” Very Good: Very tidy condition.
