About this book

Description

Published in 1984, "The Living Planet: A Portrait of the Earth" is a book by David Attenborough that serves as the companion to his BBC documentary series of the same name. The book is the second in his "Life" trilogy and explores the intricate ways in which living organisms, including humans, adapt to their surroundings and form interconnected communities. The book is organized by habitat, taking the reader on a journey to different environments across the globe, from the frozen poles and high mountains to the depths of the oceans and the heart of tropical rainforests. Attenborough highlights the extraordinary adaptations that plants and animals have developed to survive in these diverse and often extreme conditions. He showcases a variety of remarkable examples, such as fish that walk on land, flying snakes, and bears with hair on the soles of their feet. A companion book to the BBC television series by the same name. Hundreds of colour photos.
