About this book

Description

One Step Beyond chronicles the incredible survival story of Warren Macdonald, an experienced hiker whose two-day climb up Hinchinbrook Island's Mount Bowen turned disastrous. After a giant boulder trapped him in a creek bed and pinned his legs, Macdonald had to survive alone in the wild while his companion embarked on an eight-hour journey to find rescue.

The memoir captures both the terror of his isolation and his inspiring recovery. Despite losing both of his legs to amputation, the former adventure tour guide vowed to return to the outdoors. He achieved this goal monumentally in 2003, when he became the first double above-knee amputee to reach the peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Note: This book was previously published as "A Test of Will: One Man’s Extraordinary Story of Survival."
