About this book

Description

The Night Listener is a literary novel that blends psychological suspense with personal introspection. It follows Gabriel Noone, a popular late-night radio storyteller recently shaken by the end of his ten-year relationship and struggling with creative emptiness. When his publisher sends him a proof of a compelling memoir written by a 13-year-old boy, Pete Lomax, who claims to have endured horrific abuse and is now dying of AIDS, Gabriel becomes emotionally invested in the story and in the boy himself. Gabriel and Pete begin a series of long-distance telephone conversations that evolve into a profound bond resembling a father-son relationship. As Gabriel pours his hope and affection into this connection, he starts to question whether Pete — and his devastating story — is real or a fabrication. This uncertainty forces Gabriel to confront deeper questions about truth, trust, and his own life — including his relationships with his lover, his estranged father, and himself. Very tidy condition. crease on the front cover.
