About this book

Description

In Audubon: The Man Who Loved Nature, Claude Chebel chronicles the compelling life of John James Audubon—from his hopeful departure from France to his ascension as a masterful artist celebrated on two continents. Through a richly imagined narrative, Chebel portrays Audubon as both a visionary and a forerunner of ecological awareness, whose artistic ambition and sheer tenacity enabled him to document all the birds of America. The biography captures not only his personal trials and triumphs but also the broader spirit of 19th-century America, marked by untamed landscapes and boundless opportunity. Text: English, French (translation)
