About this book

Description

ANOTHER MOVIE MONSTER and MISSION There are lands that so lend themselves to the imagination that even when you go there, they live up to your dreams. It is as if you are recalling them from somewhere beyond themselves. And later, when you remember them for real, they are more like themselves than ever. These are the lands the daydreamers and artists inhabit. We live in one ourselves, although we often forget it, because they are always Other Places. These are two books in one volume, one youthful and the other older. They find themselves conversing between these covers like travelers from different countries, sitting side-by-sidein a small bus making its way somewhere over an enormous landscape. About the author Born in 1945, NICHOLAS MESSENGER is a lifelong poet and story-teller, painter and illustrator, who grew up in New Zealand, in the Bay of Islands, and has travelled and worked in several countries, in Latin America, Europe and Asia. He has been a seaman, security guard, demolition worker and various other things. For many years he was a teacher of science, languages and art in high schools in New Zealand, and latterly, for nine years, taught English, in three different regions in Japan. His mountains are those of the West Coast of the South Island, where he was a team leader in Search and Rescue, but he has climbed those of the Andes and far and wide in Japan. He has a son and daughter. Passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 21st, 2024, in his 80th Year. Very Good: Almost like new.
